When Christa met her husband Patrick in 1980, she immediately asked him whether he couldn’t get a job “somewhere” in Spain. Eventually they decided to establish themselves as self-employed persons and in 1990 they took over a fish and chip shop in Sint-Amands aan de Schelde. After 12 years, in 2002, they successfully sold their shop and Patrick started as a customs officer at the investigation service of the Antwerp port. The love for Spain remained, and the annual vacations and the urge to start something new lead to their adventurous decision.
After a long search they found the right location. The former meeting place for pigeon fanciers in the village "Parroquia La Matanza" was transformed into a Bed & Breakfast with the obvious name "Casa la Paloma", or, "the pigeon house". Casa la paloma has 4 rooms and 2 apartments.
Parroquia La Matanza is situated in the south of the Alicante province, in the region of the Vega baja de segura, protected behind the ridge of Orihuela. The majority of the local population is dedicated to the growth of lemons, oranges and almonds. There, amidst numerous plantations, lies the Bed & Breakfast "Casa la Paloma".
